Education
In 1979 has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Vilnius State University.
Since 2003 has been working as a cardiologist, an electrophysiologist in "Kardiolita Clinics".
Professional experience
Field of interest – interventional & structural heart diseases, minimally invasive heart surgery, arrhythmia surgery
Area of work and researches - electrophysiological diagnostics and treatment of heart rhythm disturbances, including using the system of three-dimensional mapping "CARTO", the use of the newest methods of heart stimulation. Development and implementation of new minimally invasive transcatheter technologies for the treatment of heart valves in clinical practice
Professor Audrius Aidietis is one of the pioneers of Lithuania, who began the modern treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. For the first time in Lithuania, together with the colleagues, he has introduced the latest technologies for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias: radiofrequency catheter ablation, the use of a three-dimensional electromagnetic mapping system for radiofrequency catheter ablation, catheter treatment of atrial fibrillation, surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation - a „labyrinth“ operation using artificial circulation, biventricular stimulation in the asynchronous work of the ventricles of the heart and heart failure, minimally invasive surgery for treatment atrial fibrillation without the use of artificial circulation.
The team headed by the professor, for the first time in Lithuania, has introduced a catheter implantation of the aortic valve through the femoral artery and through the apex of the heart, catheter thrombectomy in the treatment of pulmonary embolism, catheter implantation of the pulmonary arterial valve through the femoral vein, catheter balloon valvuloplasty of the mitral valve, catheter closure of the mitral paraplanar fistulas through the heart apex. In 2013, for the first time in the world, a minimally invasive operation was performed to treat mitral insufficiency. During the surgery through a small incision without cardiac arrest with a modern instrument, the broken mitral valve chords were replaced with new ones.
Audrius Aidietis is a professor in the Clinic of Cardiac And Vascular Diseases at Vilnius University. He also supervises and mentors PhD students. A. Aidietis serves as a principal investigator in a number of clinical studies. His professional training took place in the USA, Germany and Sweden. The professor has participated in many international conferences and seminars and has delivered numerous presentations. A. Aidietis has published over 150 national and international publications. The renowned professor is the Director of the Department of Cardiology and Angiology with Vilnius University Hospital „Santara Clinics“. In addition to serving as a lead surgeon of neochords providing training to foreign colleagues in the implementation of this new technology, professor Audrius Aidietis is a proctor of neochords in the tricuspid valve repair.
Membership
Professor Audrius Aidietis is a member of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), a member of the Lithuanian Heart Association and a member of the Lithuanian Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons.
Honors
In 2006 professor A. Aidietis was awarded the title of Honored Doctor of Lithuania, in 2011 for merits in the field of medicine was awarded the statuette of St. Christopher. In 2013 for special merits in the development and implementation of new methods of treatment and devices in the field of cardiac surgery professor A. Aidietis the Officer‘s Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas
