What will happen during your participation in the Allurion weight loss program?

Before implantation – a direct or remote consultations with a physician who will carry out balloon implantation and a physician nutritionist are provided.

Implantation (Month 1 to 4) – a procedure that takes 15 minutes is carried out:

• The patient swallows a capsule containing the gastric balloon with the attached thin catheter. No surgery, endoscopy or anaesthesia are required for the procedure.

• The patient undergoes X-ray examination to confirm that the capsule is located in the appropriate location in the stomach, the balloon is filled in with 550 ml of liquid; then the second X-ray examination is carried out to confirm that the inflated balloon is in the right position. The balloon shall stay in your stomach for 4 months.

• The balloon partially fills the stomach cavity providing the feeling of fullness even consuming reduced servings of food.
• After about 4 weeks, the balloon deflates and is evacuated naturally through the gastrointestinal tract without any additional procedure.

Formation of new dietary habits and behavioural style is further continued.

Patients participating in the program experience 10-15 % average total body weight loss. The procedure can be repeated, if necessary.
