Appearance of your abdomen can be affected by significant weight changes, separation of the muscles during pregnancy or  skin elasticity reduced over the years. Sport activities or appropriate nutrition sometimes are insufficient to manage excessive skin and fatty tissue. The abdominal plastics; applying the vertical incision is carried out in cases of very large amount of excessive skin in the abdominal area, usually after drastic weight loss.

How the surgery is performed?

Standard abdominoplasty surgery involves the incision in the lower part of the abdomen, extending fro one hip to the other and usually is hidden in the bikini zone. In case of abdominoplasty with a vertical incision an additional vertical incision located in the central abdominal part is used which allows to remove especially large amount of the excessive skin. The excess of the lipid tissue is also removed during the surgery the surgery is combined with liposuction from the waist or back area. The surgery is done under the general anaesthesia and lasts up to 3-6 hours.

Postoperative period

• Intensive physical activities should be avoided for 2-3 months.
• A special compressive clothes should be worn for 6-8 weeks after the surgery;
• Healing process lasts for 24 months. The final results are visible when when swelling is resolved completely  and the tissues have healed;
• Protect the skin from the direct sun light for about one year after the surgery to avoid skin discolouration and to make the scare almost unnoticeable.

• One month before surgery you will receive guidlines you will be recommended to follow before surgery.

Preparing for the surgery at the clinic

• You will need to arrive to Lithuania at least one day before the surgery. On the 1st a mandatory COVID-19 test is performed, as well as blood tests, ECG, consultation with surgeon.
• Before the surgery you will have to sign an agreement to undergo the surgery and anaesthesia. Please read these documents carefully and if there will be some obscurity or questions sort them out with the doctor and/or doctor-anaesthetist before signing the agreements.
• The payment for the surgery conditions are stated in the Agreement for the provision of personal health care services. The payment can be made by cash or credit card before surgery.

Surgery

• On the day of surgery it is forbidden to use any cosmetics (make up, body cosmetics, inluding self-tanning cosmetics) or jewellery (including all kind of piercings).
• On the 2nd – 3rd day you will have the surgery. You will need to stay at the hospital for 1-2 nights. Here you will be provided with all needed medication and care. Bring only personal hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc.). Pyjamas, robe, slippers will be provided by the clinic personnel.
• After the surgery medicine package is given for the first days after surgery.
