Upper face (forehead, brows) lift

Sagging of the upper part of face can be congenital or can develop over the years because of skin ageing and reduced skin elasticity. Sagging eyebrows and a forehead makes the impression of sad and tired face. Sagging  eyebrows can lead to droopy upper eyelids and vision worsening. In certain cases the complete forehead lifting is not necessary to lift the eyebrows – an incision may be done just above the eyebrow; however in case of severe tissue sagging isolated eyebrow lifting may be insufficient; in this case simultaneous forehead lift is required. The surgery is usually combined with the plastic surgery of the upper eyelids.

How the surgery is performed?

Two 3-4  cm long incisions are made at the hair line during the surgery. The tissues are lifted and fixed in the desired location with the sutures. This procedure adjusts the eyebrow position and lifts up slightly the upper eyelid, the forehead as well as opens the sight. The surgery is done under the general anaesthesia and lasts up to 1-2 hours. To achieve the best possible result usually the surgery is combined with the correction of upper eyelids.

Postoperative period

• Face swelling and haemorrhages develops after the surgery; they resolve after 2-3 weeks;
• Cold applications are recommended during the first days after he surgery;
• The sutures are removed on day 10-14 after the surgery;
• To see the final result 3-4 months after the surgery are required.

Preparing for the surgery at home

• One month before surgery you will receive guidlines you will be recommended to follow before surgery.

Preparing for the surgery at the clinic

• You will need to arrive to Lithuania at least one day before the surgery. On the 1st a mandatory COVID-19 test is performed, as well as blood tests, ECG, consultation with surgeon.
• Before the surgery you will have to sign an agreement to undergo the surgery and anaesthesia. Please read these documents carefully and if there will be some obscurity or questions sort them out with the doctor and/or doctor-anaesthetist before signing the agreements.
• The payment for the surgery conditions are stated in the Agreement for the provision of personal health care services. The payment can be made by cash or credit card before surgery.

Surgery

• On the day of surgery it is forbidden to use any cosmetics (make up, body cosmetics, inluding self-tanning cosmetics) or jewellery (including all kind of piercings).
• On the 2nd – 3rd day you will have the surgery. You will need to stay at the hospital for 1-2 nights. Here you will be provided with all needed medication and care. Bring only personal hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc.). Pyjamas, robe, slippers will be provided by the clinic personnel.
• After the surgery medicine package is given for the first days after surgery.
